Entrepreneurial Moms International- Connecting Moms Who Dream Big
Who Are We? - On the Record
Entrepreneurial Moms International is a growing global family of networking communities built by local moms who are running their own businesses or plan to embark on their own venture. We welcome Entrepreneurial Moms who seek education on topics related to entrepreneurial endeavors, social and promotional support for their businesses, as well as those who seek professional and social connections with other entrepreneurial women.
EM Calgary is a diverse group of women from many industries. Our members are service providers and producers of goods; we are artists and accountants; we are in retail and business-to-business; we are small and medium-sized business owners; we are married and single; we are gregarious and reserved; we aspire to fame and serenity; we are all of this and then some. Our common threads are in our commitment to our families, our ambition to succeed as entrepreneurs, and our challenges in balancing it all.
Who Are We Really? - Off the Record
The beautiful essence of this group is its unrivaled spirit of support and respect that its members have for one another. Since EM Calgary's birth, our members have grown immensely both individually and collectively, and both professionally and personally. Incredible ladies to begin with, these dynamic peers continue to inspire one another to shoot higher, go deeper, and laugh harder.
I founded Entrepreneurial Moms to selfishly surround myself with the most fantastic collection of women I could amass. From our first magical meeting, the sheer capability, talent, intelligence, dedication, and unbridled diligence of these fellow mothers, wives, and entrepreneurs have continued to astound me. Choosing the difficult path of entrepreneurship, juggling sometimes very young children, and full responsibilities and home, it is fair to say that these are perhaps amongst the bravest women I've known. In our midst are the dream-chasing leaders, butt-kicking achievers, boo-boo kissing nurturers, and high-fiving cheerleaders of one another who are shaping our world and leaving it a better place. At the core are wonderful women who have bonded and grown together, many of whom would give the shirt off their back for a fellow EM member in need.
This is who we really are.

We may glean some insight from those ladies who have found success, find camaraderie in our shared challenges, and inspire one another wherever we are in our journeys. We may share advice on topics ranging from incorporating, to keeping screaming kids from sabotaging business calls, to GST accounting, to managing romantic relationships alongside your other life's passions, to the latest smart and sassy fashions for today's business mom. Best of all we'll have fun and enjoy the fantastic company in our online community as well over wine and food at our monthly meetings! That's sure to stir up our creative juices!
Unfortunately this group cannot accommodate multi-level marketing or pyramid business model representatives.
We welcome your energy and passion!
I’m a frenetically busy mom of two insatiably spirited boys, 4 yrs old and 2 yrs old, and a third munchkin due in August of 2009. Searching for a mom-friendly business venture in which to invest my heart, soul, and dreams, I began keenly listening in on fellow moms' conversations about their self-made businesses. I found myself increasingly hungry for more stimulating discussion with the fantastic entrepreneurs in my midst. But since our usual mom chats occurred between the uneven bars at our kids' gymnastics class or hurriedly in between passing the tambourine from the 2-yr-old to our right while receiving the handbells from the toddler to our left in the circle at our kids' music classes, all while my own burst into tears at losing the tambourine, I decided I'd had it and it was time to carve out a night away from the kids to talk about our businesses, hopes, dreams, web designers, tax guys, dry cleaners, and anything else that came to mind.
The first meeting of Entrepreneurial Moms of Calgary was on an icy night in April, 2008. The 7 of us, all ladies who were either my friends or friends of friends, knew that we had struck a magical chord with one another, and decided to to meet again the following month. The rest, as they say, is history. That venture that I had sought and for which I so wanted to gain inspiration and tips, was serendipitously the group itself. I'm currently President of Entrepreneurial Moms™ International and Director of Entrepreneurial Moms of Calgary, both of which are a labor of love for me and huge foci in my life. Additionally I'm developing the no-brainer travel getaway site for moms called Momcations™, which occupies the remainder of my entrepreneurial bandwidth.
Join me and Entrepreneurial Moms in our ongoing odysseys in entrepreneurship, motherhood, and reaching for our stars!

Empowering inspiration:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?”
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
