Entrepreneurial Moms of Calgary Signature Events

Entrepreneurial Moms Int'l. recognizes that an Entrepreneurial Mom is a multi-faceted, dynamic woman whose priorities are many and whose time is precious.  We acknowledge that an Entrepreneurial Mom's business success is intricately dependent upon a few fundamental aspects of her life being functional, healthy, and, ideally, thriving.  We discovered on our journey of connecting and supporting Entrepreneurial Moms that the fantastic women we honor so much actually place as much value on other facets of their lives as they do on their entrepreneurial success.  What makes Entrepreneurial Moms unique, it seems, is a statistically significant sentiment that while business is important it isn't everything, and it alone does not complete us.

Based on your overwhelming feedback, with our Complete Entrepreneurial Mom Series we've identified four basic elements of an Entrepreneurial Mom's overall success in life and have created events to address and support those needs:  business (Build Your Business Series),  spirit (Nurture Your Spirit Series), body (Love Your Body Series), and family (Focus on Family Series).  We're proud to offer these quality events in our ongoing commitment to The Complete Entrepreneurial Mom.

hampioning Passion: Two Champion Entrepreneurial Moms Share Secrets of Winning in Business and in Life - A Holiday Celebration of Champion Entrepreneurial Moms

Speakers: Jane Walter, Founder & CEO of organicKidz™,
Co-Founder of Rooz Kidz, and Co-Founder of Wild Octopus, and Kathryn Bechthold, Founder, CEO of The Mompreneur Networking Group, Publisher of The Mompreneur Magazine, Co-Founder of Wild Octopus

Our last event for 2009 will feature two of Calgary's most heralded Entrepreneurial Moms.  What are the secrets behind their big entrepreneurial wins?  What steps did they take to build their buzz and claim their wins? What advice to they have for fellow Entrepreneurial Moms hoping to separate from the pack?  What tips do they have for earning titles and ending first in contests?  And why do these serial fempreneurs seem to have an insatiable appetite for not only entrepreneurship, launching new ventures, collaborating, and supporting other women on their entrepreneurial journeys?  In this celebratory event we'll look back on the year, honor our EM Calgary Members who won awards in 2009 and recognize the everyday champions in each of us.

All EM Calgary Signature Events include wine and appetizers, and a special holiday treat bag!

About Jane Walter
Entrepreneurial Mom Jane founded organicKidz in 2008, out of a desire to provide children and parents with a toxin free, unbreakable alternative to plastic and glass bottles.  ”When the BPA scare hit, I felt tremendous guilt that my children had used plastic bottles. At the time I thought I was using the best bottles, but the brand I was using was one of the worst. I don't think I will ever get over that guilt, but it fueled a passion in me.”

Her focus ever since has been to get organicKidz baby bottles into the hands of as many children as possible.  What has been her most inspiring event since starting organicKidz?  When she got a call from a pediatric ICU nurse from a Canadian hospital telling her the story of a 6 month old baby who had spent 5 of his 6 months in a the hospital with cancer.   After finally getting a clean bill of health, the baby wasn’t going to be released as he wasn’t drinking anything despite the staff’s best efforts.    Luckily, one of the nurses brought in an organicKidz bottle – the baby took to it immediately and was released a day later after spending virtually his entire life in the hospital.  His parents and staff were referring to organicKidzTM bottles as “miracle bottles.” As Jane put it, “Hearing stories like this validates everything I’m trying to accomplish.”

In the past year, organicKidz baby bottles have taken off.  In addition to being sold in 16 countries around the world, and being named Disneyfamily.com’s Top Green and Organic Product,  they are sold in the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary… an outlet Jane often points proudly to!

organicKidz is the recipient of the iParenting Media Award, EcoBabyWorld Green Award, JPMA Innovation Award, Mom's Best Award,iParenting Media HOT Award, and in October of 2009 organicKidz won the Glinda' Girls Are You the Next Glinda Girl? Pitchfest at The Business of Bliss, sponsored by Entrepreneurial Moms Int'l.

Marriage & Medals: Lessons on Sticking Together for Elite Performance Families Like Yours

Driven Entrepreneurial Mom, Founder of InnerPiece Life & Team Performance Coaching, Author of Marriage and Medals - A Relationship's Journey Through Elite Performance & Wife of 2010 Olympian Aly Pain shares her entrepreneurial journey and the extraordinary trials of elite performance endured by entrepreneurial, "type-A" households everywhere.

About Aly Pain
Aly Pain is a vibrant, tenacious leader who is deeply committed to her clients connecting to themselves and others through healthy, sustainable relationships.  She is a passionate and "tell-it-like-it-is" coach specializing with personal relationships and corporate teams. Her work focuses on creating intentional relationships, moving away from 'Who is doing what to whom?" and toward "What is trying to happen?" This encompasses increasing positivity and productivity within organizations, to creating an enjoyable experience around the dinner table.

Aly's strong background in communication, leadership skills and human potential is rooted in many years as a facilitator/trainer of hard and soft skills in various organizations and in the personal development field. Adding her Life and Relationship Coach Training felt like the perfect addition, and key to the career of her dreams! "Becoming a Coach feels like finding my home, in my heart."

Aly proudly hails from Kelowna, BC, in the Okanagan Valley.  Her early years were filled with academic success, leadership development through student councils and endless social and athletic endeavors.

"There is nothing more powerful and inspiring than witnessing people transforming their lives."

Aly has had the opportunity to travel extensively as a young adult and as a wife and mother.  She loves experiencing different worlds and cultures through the people, music, geographic diversity and food.  Travel provides a strong sense of adventure and freedom for Aly and she believes there are learning opportunities through truly experiencing the world that can not be taught in a classroom.

Aly and her husband Jeff, 2006 Olympic Silver Medallist in Skeleton are co-authors of their book 'The Business of Marriage and Medals - A Relationship's Journey Through Elite Performance' being released in March, 2010. They currently reside in Calgary with their two sons, where they live a unique and active family lifestyle. They continue to enjoy traveling for work and pleasure. Her 'borderless' Life and Relationship Coaching practice allows her to live her passion daily and be available to her family. Aly believes in 'walking her talk' and employs her own coach, as well as submitting to periodic supervision of her coaching calls to ensure she maintains a rigorous standard.

Hot Tech Tools: Two Trailbazing Entrepreneurial Moms Who Are Thinking, Marketing, & Producing Outside the Box

Carla Young, Founder & CEO of
MOMeo Community and Susan Sohn, Founder of the Real Life Radio Network, will share their entrepreneurial journeys and their passions for the technological culture in which they operate and thrive. They'll each share invaluable insight on how you, your business, and your family can benefit from these amazing technological platforms they employ.

About Carla Young, Founder & CEO of MOMeoCommunity.com

If there’s living proof that women can have it all – and then some – it’s Carla Young. Founder and CEO, Carla takes pride in her role as a wife, mother and businesswoman, and finding that enviable balance.

Carla rejected the old model of women trying compete with men and to “do it all” as an unhealthy and unsustainable way to do business. Instead, she built her copywriting agency on a virtual, work-from-home model, leveraging her time with the help of a talented support team and the right blend of technology and marketing savvy.

After constantly being approached by other Moms who wanted to do the same, Carla saw a need to build a resource community for other Moms. Currently in development, MOMeo Community.com is that resource community that supports Mompreneurs in achieving success on their terms.

About Susan J. Sohn
Susan Sohn, is a Canadian-born, writer, speaker, talk-radio host, and social media personality. Through her online communities:
thefamilyroom, susanjsohn.com, and RealLife, internet radio shows and podcasts: RealLife with Susan Sohn, live thefamilyroom events, newspaper columns, television and media appearances, Susan Sohn is communicating her passion:

“Building extraordinary families, developing relationships and strengthening the communities we live in.”

Having lived in Hong Kong, Sydney, and Los Angeles, Susan and her husband Philip currently reside in Calgary, Canada with their three wonderful children: Sophia, Gabriel and Ella.

A natural gatherer of people, Susan’s vivacious personality and  “straight talk” style, makes her a friend and mentor to many.  She is a fearless and compassionate woman.

Entrepreneurial Moms of Calgary Presented the 2009 Season of Mommy Fairs- Thank you to our fantastic vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers!
Contributed by Dawn McEwen

The popular adage is true: find a job you are passionate about, and you’ll never work a day in your life.  The ladies who partake in these events are first and foremost moms, who have in fact found something they are passionate about. So much so that they have started their own businesses and now want everyone to know what drives them. So we used this energy and started the “Mommy Fair”.

This year's season of Calgary fairs were designed to help local entrepreneurial moms gain exposure and a larger clientele base to ultimately expand their horizons for growth. Our mandate is to find community venues, local sponsors, and use local advertising to contribute to the overall success of the
events.

If you are interested in becoming a vendor or a sponor for one of our Mommy Fairs please complete the application form available on this page.  Entrepreneurial Moms of Calgary is the title sponsor for this season of Mommy Fairs.

Stay tuned for more information on autumn Mommy Fairs!
