Visually Presenting Your Business

- How to Make a Professional Impact on a Budget

This workshop is just that - a workshop! Bring whatever you already have - your logo and printed collateral, a printed screenshot of your website, a doodle on a napkin. We will work together in a cozy atmosphere using each other’s experience and ideas as our aids. At the end of our time together, you will leave with information, practical ideas, a to do list, and some new contacts to help you get ready for the trade show... or any trade show!

We will be covering: 

• The basics in visual communications
• Display design (putting it all together)
• Presenting samples, "Giftaway" ideas and coupons/brochures in the gift bag
• Printing, Tweeting and creating a social media event to create buzz

Guest speakers will be handing out discounts too! Refreshments will be served.

About Cleo Thompson

Cleo Thompson certainly understands juggling. She is not only the Studio Director of Character Creative and a Professor of Graphic Design at Algonquin College, but also serves as the Communications Manager of Entrepreneurial Moms of Ottawa. 

Cleo is a rare hybrid of award-winning designer and proven project manager. She has been practicing graphic design for 15 years and has delved into interior design for the past 8 years. She opened her own graphic design studio, Character Creative, in 2005 with her husband (also an award winning graphic designer). In 2008, she opened her own interior design company, Tonic Interiors, all the while raising her two small children and renovating her 60 year old house. In recent years, Cleo has been teaching the art and business of design in the Graphic Design program at Algonquin as well as the Interior Decorating program.

Cleo has as much philanthropic spirit in her as she does entrepreneurial. Last year, her company raised over $21,000 for the new Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, volunteered pro bono design work to deserving local non profit organizations valuing more than $25,000, and donated 1% of their annual revenues to 1% For The Planet. This year, she is poised to raise and donate even more than last. She is currently nominated for a 40 Under Forty award.
